Invisible Gazebo, What’s That?

A gazebo is a pavilion structure commonly found in parks, gardens, and spacious public areas. Gazebos are freestanding, roofed, and open on all sides; they provide shade, basic shelter, ornamental features in a landscape, and a place to rest.Wikipedia

My job was to assist with the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Department. One of my first assignments was to prepare an area in the classroom that was quiet and comfortable enough for reading.  As an avid reader myself, I quickly fell in love with reading time.  It was there, during reading time, I was first introduced to “The Invisible Ladder”, an Anthology of Contemporary American Poems for Young Readers, by author Liz Rozenberg.

I started reading this book, frankly because the title was so catchy; something about invisibility drew my attention, somehow. I remember reading a couple of poems and not wanting to put the book down. I even checked the book out a couple of times to read at home. I have since, read this book a hundred times over, but would you believe I do not own a copy of it? (Note to self: must get that book!)

Recently, I was reminiscing about this book. It was right around the same time my baby sister had suggested I start a blog. (Side note: I have loved writing since I was very young) Since my sisters are my biggest fans, I asked them and several of my close friends to help me come up with a good name for the blog, which was before I even figured out what the blog would be about.

Their suggestions were great! Well, there was “Beba and Mangos” –compliments of my sister, Lourdes, but we won’t go there…The Invisible Gazebo was the result, in part of the memory of that one book in addition to my own desire to share my adventures with anyone who’d invite me into their personal reading time.  I feel I have so much to say…

When you think of a gazebo, you think of a gathering space for outdoor parties, cookouts or weddings; a place for fun conversations with people you enjoy sharing your stories with.  That’s sort of the idea; a gathering place for where my friends and I can meet regularly to share countless ideas, articles, recipes, stories, journal entries, and easy to do projects, among other things.

I want to invite you to dream, create, and enjoy the simplest things in life, while I share stories about my travels and interesting discoveries, as well as easy projects and recipes anyone can do. Be sure to check regularly for new updates at the Invisible Gazebo. There is a world of possibilities waiting to be discovered!

How often is this blog updated?

The Invisible Gazebo will be updated regularly or as often as I’m able to  get to it (keep clicking that refresh button, eventually the page will change, I promise!).  I will try my best to have a new blog post at least every 2-3 weeks.

Are there other contributors?

Sometimes I’ll include  interesting lists, suggestions, recipes, etc., from several of my awesome friends as well as from other blogs, popular sites or from professionals in several fields of interest.
