About three weeks ago, I wrote a blog about Kendra Easley (see, Lemonade Stand For A Good Cause).  Kendra was been diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma a couple of years back, and has been undergoing extensive treatments since then.  Today I received a message from Gini Banks, Kendra’s mother letting me know that Kendra has relapsed, and has to have another transplant.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were? ~Satchel Paige The wheels of time are turning and they are telling me I am getting closer to that dreaded old woman label. Truth be known, I don’t really think I am old, but there are days when I feel it closing in. Remember that movie, …

A Simple Meal

It was one of those days when I had no clue what to cook for dinner.  There were no invited guests or special plans for the evening, however, it was an unusual free night where I had plenty of time to play in the kitchen.  I looked in the pantry and in the refrigerator to see what all I had to work …

When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold.  They believe that when something’s suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.  ~Barbara Bloom

The Launching of the Invisible Gazebo

Several months ago, I had invited some friends and family for a special Passover dinner party. After all the guests had left, my sister Yamila and I got to work on the clean up.  She began to brag about how good everything was and how much she enjoyed the gathering and the meal.  She especially found my dessert delicious.  Hum…”wanna know a secret? I …

Je t’aime, Paris! Ever since I can remember there have been images in my mind of what I thought Paris, France would be like.  I never thought I’d ever had the opportunity to visit, but God most like me a lot, I’ve been able to go to Paris twice and another time to a different region of France.  How crazy is …

Going to the Mountains

Oh how I love the mountains!  My ideal winter vacation is to disappear to a secluded cabin somewhere on the Georgia or Tennessee Mountains (or any other mountain with a glorious view of green everywhere!).  I love the idea of wrapping myself under a thick fuzzy blanket, drinking hot tea (or coffee) with my feet spread on the coffee table, while staring …

Trinidad

Here’s my official shout-outs to all my Trini friends back in the island and those spread around the hemisphere! It was the summer of 2003 when my husband and I took a team of about 23 people on a missions trip to Trinidad in the Caribbean sea. Our group consisted on mostly college age students and a handful of older …

Beautiful Austria!

“The hills are alive with the sound of music…la,la,la,la,la…”  Yes, that’s the one! If you’ve ever seen the movie, The Sound of Music,  I have to say that as beautiful as Austria is depicted in the movie, it just doesn’t do it justice.  It is absolutely breathtaking!  Now, if you have never seen the movie, shame on you!  Go immediately and …

Interlocken, Switzerland

On my latest trip to Germany during the winter of 2009, we had done some ministry at a youth conference for an entire week.  Then, we ministered in a few churches and held a service at a theological seminary.  The following week, we were ready for a little break and so, we headed to Interlaken, Switzerland to experience even more cold and snow, …
